I love box braids. I was introduced to them early as a young kid in elementary school. Surrounded by majority straight and wavy haired kids, box braids allowed me to wear the coveted half up half down hairdo. Back then I wasn't thinking about protecting my curls or keeping my scalp oiled and clean.
As adult box braids saved me through my pregnancies and even post. Also, as an adult I know better to protect my edges, oil my scalp and be gentle overall as wear as wear my Curly Boo bonnet at night more than anything to keep them out of my face while I am sleeping.Â
